We know as voters you are being bombarded with pro-tax information from the labor union, its political arm (CBS), and the school board. When you look at only one side of any issue you are only seeing half the picture. We are glad you have taken the time to get the other side of the story. We know your time is valuable so I will tell you the facts in the presentation below and the articles on the Links page are the most important parts of this website. Lets get started.
Current School Board Member Frank Kovach said it best just about 1 year ago.
From December 2, 2008 Herald Tribune Article by Tiffany Lankes
"I don't think people realize how bad it is," Kovach said. "We have spent money that we simply cannot afford to spend and we can't keep doing it."
The school system has apparantly resorted to outright lying now. On a flyer they are sending home with students it says, "over the past 2 years the district has been forced to reduce its operating budget by more than $70 million". In fact, the operating expenditures as confirmed by the school admin office have been $400 million in 2006/2007, $419 million in 2007/2008, $403 million in 2008/2009 and will be $404 million for the current 2009/2010 school year. How can anyone say they have cut over $70 million when the budget is higher this year than last year and 2006?
Just this Sunday at noon at the Washington DC Independent Film Festival a film called "The Cartel: The True Nature of Teacher Unions" was released about what is happening to our school system. It is based on NJ but many of the facts line up with Sarasota's budget which is at three quarters of one billion dollars this year. Also in alignment with the movie is the number of employees making over $100,000 per year and we have employees that have abused children, or ones that had multiple DUIs that we can't fire. Watch this trailer.
We have included the presentation below to answer the question as to why should you vote no on March 16, 2010. There are many slides so be sure to look through all of them. There is a forward and back arrow below the presentation to change slides. Thank you for spending the time to get better informed.
Remember there are over 5000 school system employees that will be going to the polls on March 16 to vote yes as they have a financial stake in its passage.
When you are finished with the presentation below, make sure you visit our solution page to see how simple it is.
If you don't go and vote NO it will pass. Please take the time to go vote.
