The School Board and Superintendant have so far refused to provide a written plan of what they would cut if this tax is voted down. Instead they have told everyone that everything would be cut and nothing would be spared. Thus scaring all parents and concerned citizens into a Yes vote.

Parents are being told this will effect electives, music, art, sports, extra day length etc. In fact this is just not true and probably why they won't put it in writing.

To aid you in understanding the effects Better Sarasota Schools for Less has provided the following plan. And we did it for free. We didn't pay consultants hundreds of thousands of dollars to come up with it.

You can now vote NO with confidence it will not effect our children.

If you vote NO as you should and the additional tax fails,

Tax revenues for our schools will adjust by	-$38 million
As per union employee agreement already in place school salaries will adjust down by approx 6%	$17 million savings
The school board will implement a 0.25 mil which is allowed if we don't have the 1 mil	$9.5 million savings
We then need to have the union make concessions to remove the antiquated longevity bonuses	$10 million savings

Which leaves a manageable net loss of revenue of	$1.5 million
This difference is equivelent to	0.21% budget

The $1.5 million will probably be more than made up for by the increase in property values due to lower taxes. Everything is automatic except for the longevity bonuses. These are bonuses that were created decades ago before we had a 30 step pay scale. There used to be no increases after 10 years so they were created. They are not based on merit at all. Only how long you have been employed and the largest ones don't go to teachers. Last year 43 employees received over 1/2 of a million dollars! Even without the longevity we have the 2nd highest pay in the entire state.
